UPDATimes - Some time ago hacking incidents that befell a number of famous accounts such as Bill Gates to Elon Musk did make many people become worried. Moreover, it was mentioned that the incident occurred because Twitter employees who have been deceived by the hackers.
Shortly after the case was handled, the FBI together with the IRS, the US Secret Service, and the Florida police arrested 3 teenagers named Graham Clark, Nima Fazeli, and Mason Sheppard who were known to be hackers.
It was stated that Clark was the mastermind behind the hacking incident. Assisted by two friends, Clark, who is still 17 years old, managed to deceive Twitter employees by pretending to be internal employees on Twitter.
From the oath issued, the authorities were quite sure that Clark was the mastermind behind the case after successfully accessing Twitter's internal tools.
Clark is said to have succeeded in convincing Twitter employees that he worked in the social media company's IT department and tricked him into obtaining the credentials needed to access the customer service portal.
The authorities succeeded in identifying Sheppard and Fazeli because they both used a personal SIM to verify their identity on the Binance and Coinbase exchange cryptocurrency services.
Sheppard was caught after his account was recorded sending and receiving bitcoin as a result of the fraud. Fazeli also has an account on Coinbase which is used to receive payments for his stolen Twitter username.
Fazeli faces a five-year prison sentence with a USD 250,000 fine for computer intrusion. Sheppard was charged with computer intrusion, fraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy with the threat of 20 years in prison and a fine of USD 250 thousand in the US.
Meanwhile Clark is currently in prison with over 30 criminal charges which include organized fraud, communication fraud, identity theft, and hacking. Even though he is underage, Clark will be processed as an adult by law enforcement in Florida.
In a tweet uploaded on the @TwitterComms account, Twitter said they appreciated the law enforcement's swift action in this investigation.
"We appreciate the fast action of law enforcement in this investigation and will continue to work together as the case develops. For our part, we will focus on being transparent and providing regular updates," Twitter wrote.
As is known a massive burglary Twitter account that occurred on July 15 is targeting the accounts of famous figures such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and many more. Hackers then spread tweets containing bitcoin fraud through foreclosed accounts.

The FBI itself succeeded in arresting the three teenagers after they learned of their identity because Sheppard and Fazeli used their personal SIM to verify their identity in the Binance and Coinbase services to collect the proceeds.
Now they have been arrested and are currently undergoing trial. It was stated that Fazeli was threatened with imprisonment for five years with a fine of US $ 250 thousand, then Sheppard was charged with money laundering and threatened with imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of US $ 250 thousand.
Meanwhile for Clark himself, now he has been charged with more than 30 counts of crime which makes him punishable longer. Law enforcement authorities in Florida will also process Clark like an adult even though he is 17 years old.
Hackers promise to double the bitcoin that Twitter users send to certain addresses. Through this fraud, hackers managed to reap more than USD 113,500 in the form of cryptocurrency.
Hackers targeted 130 accounts and successfully sent messages from 45 accounts, accessing direct messages belonging to 36 users and downloading data belonging to seven users.
