UPDATimes - After Lockdown for 76 days in the past week, six new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China.
Wuhan is the first city in the world to be locked and a major effort has been put in efforts to eliminate the new Corona virus.
The city gradually returned to normal after 76 days of forced locking was lifted on April 8, with residents finally being allowed out, although many businesses remained closed.
The reappearance of the virus has had consequences for local governments. State media reported on Monday that Zhang Yuxin, chief officer of Changqing, an area where new cases had been detected, had been removed from his post because of his failure to prevent epidemics and control work.
While no new cases were reported in Wuhan on Tuesday, any large increase in numbers as a result of new testing will raise serious questions over the accuracy and transparency of previous figures.
Officials have faced accusations of covering up the severity of the virus at the earliest stages of this pandemic, and confusion regarding China's national figures has been created by some changes in diagnostic and reporting procedures.
Concerns have come back to haunt the public in Wuhan City because it is known that none of the new cases came from abroad.
An ambitious screening effort, described in the report as a "ten-day battle," could test up to 11 million people or more from the entire Greek population.
Reporting from The paper, Responding to the situation, the Wuhan City government will conduct nucleic acid tests throughout the city for 10 days as written in the emergency notification.
"Despite the ongoing economic pain and trauma, however, Wuhan has been raised as a representation of China's effective response to the pandemic, which appears like a phoenix," read the words of a Chinese-backed newspaper as reported by CNN on Tuesday (12) / 5/2020).
Wuhan is also not the only one in China to report the emergence of a new COVID-19 case. Shulan City, in the northeastern province of Jilin, was placed under "wartime control mode" on Sunday after 11 people were confirmed to have been infected with the virus.
