UPDATimes - The speech delivered by pastor Oscar Surjadi in front of the demonstrators during the racist protest over the death of George Floyd was a matter of controversy.
His statement was judged to have denigrated Indonesia. Knowing this, Rev. Oscar then clarified the purpose of his remarks in the middle of the action.
"If they see the video in its entirety, I actually do not denigrate Indonesia," he said as quoted by Voice of America (VoA) Indonesia.
"I want to invite these protesters to have an elegant attitude of protest. I want to say that what you have experienced has happened to me, but that was before. Let's gather a peaceful voice and not to damage it," he said in the clarification.
In addition, pastor Oscar Surjadi also conveyed his apology if his words were considered to denigrate Indonesia. He just did not intend to reduce his respect for Indonesia.

"If my words disturb, sharpen, or sharpen, I as a servant of God never meant that," he added.
Adapted from the VoA Indonesia page, Saturday (06/13/2020), pastor Oscar Surjadi moved to the US in 1987. He moved to continue his studies at business school and moved to theological school. He has also become a senior pastor at Portland City Blessing Church, which has about 150 congregations.
