UPDATimes - The government is preparing a protocol to regulate the "new normal" or the new normal situation amid the addition of the Covid-19 case which still reaches hundreds of people per day. Starting from the procedure for worship until the steps to enter the restaurant will be arranged.
The preparation for the new normal protocol was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, after a cabinet meeting with President Joko Widodo, Monday (18/05).
"So there will be protocols in restaurants, worship, the minister of religion will regulate them. Then protocols for coming to events with relatively many visitors, and so on, will be regulated in detail and must be obeyed," Muhadjir said.
However, according to economic observers, the plan is a form of government alignments with business groups and will continue to drain state money to reduce the spread of the corona virus, which is increasingly difficult to stop.
Similarly, epidemiological researchers also called the plan to face the new normal is very dangerous because it has the potential to increase the risk of Covid-19 transmission in the community. Based on research, about 80% of Covid-19 cases are cases of asymptomatic infections.
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, explained that the new normal protocol will regulate people's lives when gathering outside the home, from worshiping together, eating in restaurants to gathering to attending public events.
"New is normal, later it is possible to keep on Friday prayers in congregation but Friday prayers in congregation are different from before there is this new normal," Muhadjir said.
Regarding the restaurant, Muhadjir said, "For example, when it is allowed to open, it does not mean that the restaurant is open like before Covid was there. That is called new normal, new normal life, must obey the protocol on how to come or eat in a restaurant, and restaurants must obey that protocol."
On Friday (15/05), President Joko Widodo also mentioned the importance of community preparedness in facing what he called the "record of new life".
"Our needs have definitely changed to overcome the risk of this outbreak. That is a necessity, that is what many people call the new normal or new life order," he said.
