UPDATimes - Family lawyer George Floyd, whose death sparked riots across the United States, accused the police officer who stepped on the black man's neck using his knee, committing "premeditated murder".

A former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin has been arrested and charged with third-degree murder, but lawyer Benjamin Crump told CBS that it was a first-degree murder case.

"We think he has the intention ... almost nine minutes he set his knee on the neck of a man who begged and begged to be able to breathe," he said.

The death of George Floyd at the hands of police on Monday triggered demonstrations, looting and clashes with police in Minneapolis and the adjacent city of St. Paul, for five consecutive days.

The Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, said that he mobilized all of the Minnesota National Guards for the first time since the Second World War.

Meanwhile, protesters ignored curfews in major cities, including New York and Los Angeles.

Looting was also reported in Philadelphia. Videotapes from two Philadelphia TV stations on Sunday (31/05) local time, showed young children destroying several police cars and looting at least one shop.

President Donald Trump in his tweet on Twitter said: "Law and order [upheld] in Philadelphia, NOW! They are looting shops. Call our great national guard!".
Demonstrators gathered in front of the White House while shouting "I can't breathe" and "Stop killing us"

What did the lawyer say?
In a CBS interview, attorney Benjamin Crump said, "We now have audio recordings from the police agency and we hear where an officer says' he has no pulse, maybe we should tilt it ', but officer Chauvin says' no, we will look after him in this position '.

"Also, the fact that officer Chauvin kept his knee in the neck for almost three minutes after he was unconscious."
